‘Withdrawn’ is a response to the violence around the world and increased lack of humanity and respect for life. The artist book takes the form of a museum archival box containing the battered and worn original fifth article of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights from 1948; the premise being that since the article is not observed it has been ‘withdrawn’ and removed from the document. It has now become a historical artefact to be ironically preserved with care and reverence – something sadly missing in reality.
