Fail Better
Using Samuel Beckett’s famous lines from his story Worstward Ho, the artist’s book ‘Fail Better’ reflects upon humanity’s – and those in positions of power – need to learn from their mistakes; something which is now more important than ever.
The mini waste paper basket contains Beckett’s words screwed up and positioned in the correct order but the order may change depending on who subsequently interacts with the book and how they replace the notes. This randomness – something Beckett was fond of – leaves the next reader with an interpretation of the passage that might not be as hopeful as the original.
